A Warm Welcome

Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich has been my obsession — and my favorite Austen — for quite a while now. I don’t know, there is a degree of brilliance, wit, and genuine charisma surrounding the people of Highbury which I have always found irresistible!

I have been dreaming of adapting this jewel for some time. Yes, I know it has been done before, from Marvel to Manga Classics — and with beautiful results — but the wonderful thing about an adaptation is that the adapter has a degree of freedom to add a personal touch to the work, and reimagine it to create something that, although being yet another reinterpretation, could manage to feel fresh, unique, and new.

But let me tell you, creating a graphic novel is no easy task! It’s so time consuming, and demands a lot of attention to detail. I have been working on this project since 2020, and although a lot has been accomplished, there is still a looooong road ahead before it’s ready.

I wanted to create this blog to share part of the process with you. Please join me as I explore, design, redesign, color, recolor, scrap, and lose my head through the world of panels and text balloons, and the beauty and complexity of Jane Austen's universe to bring EMMA to light, Duniath Comics-style!

I intend to update you as often as possible so that we can travel together the unpredictable yet rewarding road towards publication. This project is for you, so it's only natural to have you by my side while we make it happen.
